Senior Virtualisation Engineer (English)

The Core Infrastructure Team is responsible for the network stack, storage, backups, and the virtualisation platform. As a senior employee on this team, you are one of our virtualisation specialists and after completing your induction, our virtualisation environment will no longer hold any secrets for you. Since the success of a virtualisation network hinges on the underlying infrastructure components, you are also competent in other parts for which Core Infrastructure is responsible.

An average day starts with a daily stand-up meeting, which briefly discusses who is going to do what on that day. After that, you mainly get started with project work. To keep in touch with the day-to-day operations and to contribute to the continuous improvement thereof, you will also be performing operational activities on a regular basis.

Project work mainly involves the continuous improvement and renewal of our IT landscape, in which the public cloud also plays a role. As a senior employee, you are expected to be able to join the thought process on future projects, make functional and technical designs as part of a team and implement these together with your colleagues.

Day-to-day operational activities involve, for example, fine-tuning the monitoring process, solving incidents and handling tickets from our internal customers.

You will also be asked to periodically take on-call shifts.

You are energetic and inspire your colleagues with your drive, interest and passion for the IT profession.

You offer:

• Higher education or equivalent ability
• At least 4 years’ experience with Hyper-V cluster management and installation
• Solid knowledge of Windows Server 2016 or newer
• Experience in the (remote) management of at least dozens of physical servers
• A valid category B driving licence

You also have broad knowledge of the following subjects:

• Backup & restore
• Storage systems
• Switch, router, and firewall management
• Compute/HCI stack
